From design department to independent practice
Design by Williams began inside Williams Corporation, where architectural decisions were made in close connection with development and construction. Today, we are a standalone practice bringing that experience to developers, builders and homeowners across New Zealand.
A successful building starts with a clear idea, then earns its place through the detail. The site, the plan, the materials and the way a home is built all deserve the same attention. Our background in residential development gives us a practical understanding of those connections.
Our portfolio includes work developed during the team’s time within Williams Corporation. That history is part of our experience, alongside the work we undertake as an independent company.
Nathan Veevers leads the practice and is the first point of contact for new projects. Directors Matthew Horncastle and Blair Chappell bring their experience in development and construction to the business. Based in Christchurch, we work with clients across New Zealand on homes, townhouses, multi-unit developments and master planning.
We believe a building should have a reason for every decision. How it meets the street. How daylight enters a room. How a floor plan supports everyday life. Character grows from those choices, and from the care taken to carry them through.
